American Made: Cruise in Control!

Like the title indicates I saw American Made, a Tom Cruise Movie last night. And man did it manage to surprise me. Let me says this first. American Made is a worthy watch anywhere! See it! You will not regret.

Now, to the review, the movie stars Tom Cruise. No other character is paid any attention. All the spotlight is on him! And boy does he pull it off! It is a showcase of Tom Cruise a movie star's acting prowess and he shows it off real nice. The story is about Barry Seal, I did no who the hell was Barry Seal, a pilot who is hired by both the Medellin Cartel and CIA!

The movie starts off by CIA appointing Barry to take pictures of the Soviets for their hidden purposes. While he is working for the CIA, he comes into contact with Mr Escobar and company. Hence, becomes the guy who always delivers. The movie uses a kind of documentary look, it feels like the movie is being recorded on a handheld camcorder and I think the look worked for the movie. Yes, it gave the movie a cheap look and feel, but it also made it more realistic. Besides, the zoomed in shots helped to hide blemishes. The movie has cool shots and a story worth telling! it also has Tom Cruise to play money hungry Barry. Who just cannot say no to a job which pays money.

However, I still have gripes with the movie. The start for starters was jarring! It expects us to know who is Barry Seal going into the movie. It jumps straight into the story with little to no build up! Add the that the talents that were by focusing solely on Tom Cruise. I would have loved to get a better view of Barry's family members reacting to his work.

In conclusion, American Made is one of the best Tom Cruise movies in recent times. It only has one problem, it just has too much of Tom Cruise!

Spiderman: Homerun

The third reboot of the Spiderman franchise is old news. So is the fact that it was a huge success, but I only got to watch it tonight, Now that I am done watching it, I am going to talk about it. Spiderman homecoming is a good movie. It has a simple story, stellar cast and a director who knows what he is doing. At its core, Spiderman homecoming is a simple coming of age teen flick. And that is what makes Homecoming so good! The movie has very little faults, so let’s get them out of the way first. It lacked action and the soundtrack was average. Done these are my gripes with the movie. Now let’s talk about the good stuff. The movie really fleshes out the characters . Supporting characters like Ned get a lot more screen time then they did on Spiderman’s last outing. Tom Holland is perfectly cast as the web-slinger and for me, he rivals Toby for the best Actor to portray Spidey! For the first time, Spiderman is an actual teen! He has school to deal with and his aunt is not hi...
