Pirates of the Caribbean: Geekman's Tale

The new Pirates movie is not necessarily new. It has been out for like 5 months, right? So a spoiler review should not trigger the internet right?

Okay, let's talk about the new Pirates movie! Dead men tell no tales. It is the 5th movie in the Pirates franchise. And to my grief is another good movie butchered by the critics upon arrival! Critics are the reason I did not go to the Cinema to enjoy this movie! Now that I have seen the movie, its time for a review!

The last Pirates movie was straight up bad. It lacked Mr And Mrs Turner. The 5th instalment brings them back. And they have a son now.

The story revolves around Henry Turner trying to find the Trident of Poseidon to cure his father's curse. Barbosa's daughter who is unknown to the fact that Barbosa is her father is also in pursuit of the Poseidon stone. Henry requires Jack's services and hence they all meet to go on this grand adventure!

The story is simple and has heart, unlike the last movie. The characters have reasons for their adventure this time. There is chemistry among the characters and the third act is epic!

What I believe let the movie down was the bland direction. It just looks like every other adventure movie and lacks the Pirates flavour. CGI was another letdown, the original which came out in 2003 looks better. Also, there was a lacking of pace, urgency throughout the movie. I mean they are running from Salazar who is the Capitan of a ship eating ship. Speaking of Salazar, Havier Bardem nails the villain. He is both terrifying and funny. Johnny Depp also brought his A game back to the franchise.

The movie tried hard to be funny and sometimes it worked. But the rest of the times it felt tacked on. The scene where Jack was about to be executed, How Salazar says Jack Sparrow and how Carina is called a witch just because she knows things were the peak funny moments in the movie.

All in all the movie was really entertaining and is well worth more than a single stream!

Flagships no longer required?

The last time I used a flagship phone, was way back in 2013 and it was the Galaxy S4. The Exynos variant to be exact, back in 2013 Exynos was not cool. It was miles behind its Snapdragon counterpart and it was visible. My experience with the S4 was horrible. So horrible, that in fact, I haven't had the courage to purchase another Flagship since then on. After that, I switched boat and jumped to the WindowsPhone clad. My first taste of WindowsPhone was from a Lumia 520. The cheapest WindowsPhone! But, the performance at times was better than my less than a year old flagship Galaxy. WindowsPhone was fluid even on extreme budget hardware. Later on, I upgraded to a Lumia 730, which to date I adore. It is for me the best phone ever! The only place where it lacked would be the storage. Then I jumped shipped again to Android and am now using a Redmi 4x. So the point behind me going through my phone purchasing history is to show, that you do not need to break the bank or sel...

Pocket

Pocket Nowadays everyone has more than one computing device. Be it your desktop, laptop, smartphone, 2-1 PC or a tablet, everyone of use at least uses a couple of this devices together in tandem. And everyone needs a good browser to surf the internet ! this leads to a problem. A problem which pocket solves in the most simplistic of ways. I for one use Firefox on my pc and chrome on my phone. As a result it makes it really difficult for me keep a track of my bookmarks ! I mean did save that article on my pc or phone ? Pocket solves that problem by creating extension for popular browsers like Firefox and chrome, in fact it is a built in feature in Firefox ! It simply adds a button called save to pocket( ), by just clicking that button the page which you are currently on will be bookmarked and saved to pocket. Which can then viewed from any device that has the pocket app and is logged in with your pocket account.
